hummelstown, pa - bruce w. zimmerman
(zim), 70, of hummelstown, died march 28, 2002 at home after a valiant two-year battle with
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (als). he was a tireless advocate for other persons with als (pals).
he was the former president & ceo of b.w. zimmerman & associates; retired from the former
syntonic technology of harrisburg; u.s.a.f. veteran; first honorary non-toll agency member of the
international bridge, tunnel & turnpike association; and past president of the steelton lions
club. bruce was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal brother, mentor and
he is survived by his wife of 48 years, joan beinhauer zimmerman; daughter jody z. laverty of
boothwyn; scott e. zimmerman of duncannon; three granddaughters; three grandsons; and sisters
sovilla kautz of carlisle and emily shadow of port matilda.
bruce traveled all over the world with joan; was an avid gardener; a true gentleman; and his
favorite hobby was attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
a celebration of zim's life will be held on wednesday, april 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the unity church, 37
