Walk to D'Feet ALS

Bruce W. Zimmerman
January 17, 1932 - March 28, 2002

HUMMELSTOWN, PA - Bruce W. Zimmerman (Zim), 70, of Hummelstown, died March 28, 2002 at home after a valiant two-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He was a tireless advocate for other persons with ALS (PALS).

He was the former President & CEO of B.W. Zimmerman & Associates; retired from the former Syntonic Technology of Harrisburg; U.S.A.F. Veteran; first honorary non-toll agency member of the International Bridge, Tunnel & Turnpike Association; and past president of the Steelton Lions Club. Bruce was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal brother, mentor and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoAn Beinhauer Zimmerman; daughter Jody Z. Laverty of Boothwyn; Scott E. Zimmerman of Duncannon; three granddaughters; three grandsons; and sisters Sovilla Kautz of Carlisle and Emily Shadow of Port Matilda.

Bruce traveled all over the world with JoAn; was an avid gardener; a true gentleman; and his favorite hobby was attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

A celebration of Zim's life will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Unity Church, 37 E. Main Street, Palmyra, PA 17078, phone 717-838-7808.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Zim's memory be made to the Zimmerman Family Love Foundation, 4811 Jonestown Road, Suite 225, Harrisburg, PA 17109, in care of Jody or Scott.
